GIRLS TENNIS TO PLAY FOR BIG SOUTH TITLE - Congrats to the Saints’ girls tennis team for capturing their fifth straight Big South Black Division title with a 5-2 win over Fairmont on Thursday at Gustavus. The Saints (18-1 overall) will now face Gold division winner St. James (18-0 overall) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the SPHS tennis courts. Admission for the championship battle of the Saints is FREE!

St. James, the defending Class A state team champs and currently ranked #1 in Class A, defeated Class AA #3 ranked-St. Peter 4-3 in the first match of the season, and the rematch promises to be another tightly-contested matchup!

SAINTS’ VOLLEYBALL TO HOST YOUTH NIGHT FESTIVITIES - The Saints’ varsity girls’ volleyball team will host its annual Youth Night & Autograph Night on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they host Tri-City United.

Saints’ youth players wearing pink to the match will get in free and have the chance to get an autographed team photo after the match. (Please note -- other family members will still have to pay to get in.)The team is also partnering with the St. Peter Volleyball Association’s JO program to host a serving contest after the second set of the varsity match. SPVA reps will set up a table to sell chances for the serving contest.

In addition, the ST. PETER-KASOTA DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS chapter will host a 50/50 Raffle. Dollars for Scholars will also have a table set up selling raffle tickets for $1 each. A number will be drawn for 50% of the pot after the second match. The rest of the money goes to providing scholarships for Saint Peter High School seniors. Free will donations will be accepted by Dollars for Scholars at their table as well.

Saints Volleyball hosting Youth Night
SAINTS FALL SPORTS SCHEDULE CHANGES FOR TODAY - Due to the expected inclement weather later today (Thursday), the Saints’ Activities Office has announced the following sports schedule changes:

GIRLS TENNIS - The Saints’ varsity match against Fairmont, originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the SPHS courts, has been moved to 7 p.m. at the Bubble (Swanson Tennis Center) on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus.

BOYS SOCCER - The Saints hit the road to take on Tri-City United later today, but the JV and varsity games will now be played in Janesville (JWP High School’s turf field). The JV game starts at 5:45 p.m., with the varsity game to follow at around 7:15 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at https://www.gobound.com/mn/schools/stpeter/tickets.

The C-squad boys soccer game location and starting time will remain the same – 5 p.m. at TCU Middle School in Montgomery.

SPPS STUDENTS TAKE PART IN ANNUAL BUS SAFETY TRAINING - Bus safety training at the start of the school year is a yearly event for students at Saint Peter Public Schools. Students at South Elementary, North Elementary, Saint Peter Middle School, and Saint Peter High School take part in the training early in the school year.

SAINTS FOOTBALL TO HOST YOUTH/AUTOGRAPH NIGHT - The Saints' varsity football team opens the home portion of its schedule at 7 p.m. Friday against Worthington at Floyd B. Johnson Field. The Saints have also designated this game as Youth/Autograph Night!

Saints' youth football players who wear their team jerseys to the game will be admitted for free (parents/family members will have to pay admission). The youngsters are encouraged to stick around after the game to receive a Saints' team poster and collect autographs from the varsity players!

STAFF GETS FIRST LOOK AT SPMS RENOVATIONS - Monday kicked off the annual Back-To-School Workshop for Saint Peter Public School teachers and staff as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

Monday was the first chance for Saint Peter Middle School teachers and staff to see the latest renovations in the building, as the second of three phases nears completion. The third phase is scheduled for the summer of 2027. Here are some photo highlights of SPMS staff getting settled in on Monday morning.

Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, for Saint Peter High School (gr. 9-12), Rock Bend, and Oshawa Learning Academy. SPMS, North Elementary, South Elementary, and Early Childhood Center will start classes on Thursday, Sept. 10, after two days of parent-teacher conferences (on September 8 and 9).

The Saints' girls swimming & diving team hosts its annual Meet the Team event tomorrow (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at Minnesota Square Park's large pavilion. This event is open to all SPHS/SPMS girls in grades 7-12 this fall, along with their families.

This will provide attendees the chance to meet the Saints' team members and coaches, get questions answered, and get amped for the season to start, while enjoying cold treats!

BAND CONCERT FOR PROSPECTIVE NEW MEMBERS - Several members of the Saint Peter High School Concert Band, under the direction of Dave Haugh, put on a short concert at the Saint Peter Middle School gym on Wednesday afternoon. Attending the concert were the SPMS 5th-grade class as well as 6th-grade band students. Haugh said the purpose of this performance was to give 5th graders, who have the chance to choose a musical instrument soon, a close-up look at the SPHS musicians and hear them perform.

SPPS CONCERT REMINDERS FOR THIS WEEK - Today (Tuesday) starts a busy three-day stretch for Saint Peter High School’s Performing Arts Center, as a school-related music concert of some kind will take place over the next three evenings on the PAC stage. The following is a list of this week’s FREE concerts:

* Tonight (Tuesday, May 12) - SPMS 6th Grade Choir Concert, 6 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE: This is the correct time. It was incorrectly reported in last weekend's Saints Connect schedule.)
* Wednesday, May 13 - SPMS Band (gr. 6-8), 6 p.m.; SPHS Spring Band Concert (gr. 9-12), 7:30 p.m.

SPMS 8TH GRADERS VISIT SAINT PETER HIGH SCHOOL - Eighth graders from Saint Peter Middle School had the chance to tour their new educational home starting next fall when they visited the Saint Peter High School building on Wednesday afternoon.

FIVE SPMS STUDENTS EARN STATE HISTORY DAY HONORS - Congratulations to Ella Evans, Brooklyn Francis, Cecilia Waller, Mallory Nelson, and Sylvie Kuhlman for earning honorable mention at State History Day. There were 19,000 projects statewide, and these students finished in the top 0.05% of the state.
