Saint Peter High School junior Madelyn (Mak) Kiczula recently received the prestigious Smith College (Northhampton, Mass.) Book Award during a presentation on Tuesday, May 12, at the SPHS main office with local Smith Club of MN alum, Sabrina Infante ('96).

Infante presented Kiczula with a certificate and a copy of “Calling In: How to Start Making Change with Those You'd Rather Cancel" by Loretta Ross. This year’s book selection for the award by Smith College, advocates for moving beyond "cancel culture" to a more effective method of creating change through dialogue and connection, even with opponents.
Smith College's Book Award program recognizes an outstanding Junior in a participating school’s community who exemplifies the academic achievement, leadership qualities, and civic engagement that characterize the thousands of women who have graduated from Smith College. The student embodies these qualities and serves as an example of scholarship and community service.
