Students from three sections of Courtney Shoemaker’s Intro to Culinary Arts class at Saint Peter High School recently participated in a “Culinary Exploration” at South Central College in North Mankato. The event was a hands-on learning event where students rotated through four distinct stations to develop skills in various culinary topics. Those topics included:
Sushi Making: Participants learned the techniques for preparing and rolling sushi.
Cupcake Decorating: Students practiced professional decorating and finishing skills for baked goods.
Cornish Game Hen Preparation: This station focused on butchery, stuffing, roasting, and presentation techniques for poultry.
Seasoning Profile Identification: Students engaged in sensory evaluation exercises to enhance their ability to identify and differentiate various herbs and spices.
Above and below are some photo highlights of the SPHS culinary students at South Central College! Thanks to Mrs. Shoemaker and Mrs. Blume for sharing the photos.
