Members of the Gustavus Adolphus College football team started spending time with South Elementary students recently as part of a new Read & Recess program.
According to South School Counselor Laura Zender, the program's purpose is for the players to work with students on good sportsmanship and being inclusive of all, as well as working with students as reading buddies. She also said the program has been a big hit so far and one first grader cutely quipped to a classmate how "his reading buddy played in the NFL."
