Walk and Roll to School was highly attended this morning with 300+ of our students participating! I'm thinking more bike racks are needed for our next event in the spring.

NORTH ELEMENTARY BIKE SAFETY TRAINING - Mr. Bass, North Elementary's physical education teacher, is taking advantage of the unseasonably mild weather this week to teach the students in grades 2-4 about bike safety/etiquette and make the most of their biking experiences. He is shown here working with Ms. Walters' second-grade class on bike safety and etiquette.
These bike safety classes matchup well with Wednesday's (Oct. 9) Bike & Walk to School Day at North where students are encouraged to bike or walk to school that morning to start the day!

Thanks so much for visiting North this morning to this group of leaders from our high school to celebrate Homecoming. School Spirit is so much more infectious
when all schools and age levels are involved.

MANKATO ELKS MAKES ANOTHER DONATION TO SPPS - Mankato Elks Lodge #225 recently made another generous donation to North Elementary and Saint Peter Public Schools. According to Mandy Kennedy, North Elementary’s social worker, the Elks donated large quantities of snacks to North to help supplement those who are unable to provide their own snack each day. The Elks also donated a $300 gift card, some much needed winter gear for kids, and additional school supplies to share within the district.
“The Mankato Elks Lodges really came through for us again after hearing we did not have a snack cart this year (at North Elementary),” Kennedy said. “ We are also very thankful for the other donations which will be used as needed with all of our school buildings in the district.”

NORTH BUS SAFETY TRAINING - North Elementary students took their turn on Wednesday to participate in the annual bus safety training. Students from each of the buildings went through a variety of drills about how to get on and off the bus safely and proper etiquette when riding the bus. Here are some photo highlights from Wednesday's training session.

Mr. Lenhoff’s second-grade class at North Elementary took a nature hike on Tuesday at McGill Park, otherwise known as the Northwoods. The students practiced using magnifying glasses for the first time. The magnifying glasses are courtesy of the Jeffers Foundation. The students had such a great time and the consensus was they wanted to use that as an outdoor play space. They look forward to going back soon and learning more about nature.

NORTH'S FINAL PASSION PROJECT FOR 2023-24 - North Elementary students wrapped up their day on Friday (May 17) with the final Passion Project Day activity, put on by North's PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) group.
During the last hour of that day, students could sign up for an activity they were interested in that was taught by North staff. Students chose their top three activity choices, and the PBIS team created groups. Pictured here are some photo highlights from the fun day of activities!

And away they go! The Jungle Book spring play is being viewed for the first time by our students now. Everyone is welcome to our 6 o'clock show! Our student council will sell popcorn and cookies for you to enjoy during the show tonight.

Our student did it again! They "packed the rack" for Walk and Roll to school day. And it was a gorgeous day to do so! Thanks to all the parents and community members for helping and participating!

It's officially May! The fourth grade caps have been placed on the office window at North Elementary School. The transition to middle school for our fourth graders has begun.

Macy, a 2nd grader in Mr. Lenhoff's class, was able to be a KEYC Weather Kid last week! A future meteorologist getting some great experience.

So fun hanging out in Mr. Bass's physical education classroom. Pictures don't do it justice but the sweat and effort is apparent. Might have to start recruiting for our track and field and gymnastics program, coaches!

It's a great day for readers theater with "Kid's Day" in Mrs. Koepp's classroom. It's a full house with other classes and parents.

North Elementary Arts and Academic night was another huge hit! Here are just a few pictures from the evening. Congratulations to all the students who competed or submitted their work.

Here are just a few of the 30 students who earned awards for placing in the top 10 during the Principal's math challenge.
