North's Walk & Roll to School Day

North Elementary held its fall Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday as students were encouraged to walk or bike to school, joining thousands of students from across America in this one-day event.

Among those local agencies participating in the event included representatives from the St. Peter Police Department, Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, and River’s Edge Hospital EMS who handed out special stickers. Saints Bus Service even helped out as students riding the bus were given the option to be dropped off near First Lutheran Church and walk the two blocks to school with their friends.

Walk & Roll to School Day began in 1997 as a one-day event. Today, thousands of schools across America—from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico—participate every October. Over time, this celebration has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school.
