SPHS SENIOR NAMED NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP FINALIST - Congrats to Saint Peter High School senior Allen Nienow, who was recently informed he is one of 15,000 high school seniors to be named a National Merit Scholarship Program finalist. Nienow received word in the fall of 2025 that he was a program semifinalist and now moves on to the next round. These academically talented high school senior finalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered later this spring.

SPHS KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS SWEEP TOP 3 AT MANKATO - Congrats to the Saint Peter High School Knowledge Bowl teams as they swept the top three spots in the team standings at Friday’s meet in Mankato.
The SPHS Caput Mortuum team claimed the top spot, followed by Neon Slate in second and Indigo in third. The other two teams competing, Fuchsia and Magenta, placed 10th and 12th, respectively, out of 33 teams!

NORTH 'I LOVE TO READ MONTH' ACTIVITIES - North Elementary students (gr. 2-4) are taking advantage of February being 'I Love to Read Month.' Students have been busy voting on Bookmark Design Contest submissions, wearing readable shirts, coloring banners for the hallway, while at home they are completing BINGO unplugged for a chance to win a prize pack, and participating in DEAR (drop everything and read) time at school. Activities will continue throughout the month of February.

SCHOOL CLOSING & FLEXIBLE LEARNING DAY INFO FOR FRIDAY - Saint Peter Public Schools will be closed tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 23) due to the anticipated colder-than-normal weather, and we will be implementing a Flexible Learning Day.
PLEASE NOTE -- All practices, games, and events scheduled for Friday have also been canceled. However, all practices, games, and events scheduled for later today (Thursday) and also on Saturday are still on as planned, per the Saints Activities Office. Please check the SPPS social media pages and website for any possible changes.
During Friday’s Flexible Learning Day, teachers will be available via email and through classroom virtual spaces. Principals can be reached by phone or email, and we encourage you to contact them if you have any questions.

SPHS KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS SHINE AT MANKATO MEET - Saint Peter High School’s Knowledge Bowl program had a successful day at today’s meet (Thursday) at Fitzgerald Middle School in Mankato, with all five teams finishing in the top 15 out of the 32 teams that competed. SPHS science teacher Dr. Chris Harmes is the coach for the Saints' Knowledge Bowl teams.
The SPHS Neon Slate team (Lilian Filand, Sada Harmes, Matthew Timmerman, and Elijah Cherland Narum) led the way with a runner-up finish, while the Indigo team (Micah Stoll, Sam Barnick, John Schueler, Khalid Ibrahim, and Amar Daidzic) placed fourth overall. The SPHS Caput Mortuum team finished in sixth place, while the other SPHS teams that competed placed 13th and 15th overall.
