
COACH ROTHENBERGER NETS 250TH CAREER WIN! Congrats to Saints’ girls’ tennis coach Aaron Rothenberger, who recorded his 250th career win as head coach of the girls' program. He is shown here with the Saints’ tennis team after the squad defeated Westonka 7-0 yesterday, helping him reach that impressive milestone!
Rothenberger, who also has 245 career wins as the Saints’ boys tennis coach, has been the St. Peter girls’ head coach for 17 seasons (started in fall of 2010) and completed his 17th season as boys head coach this past spring. He was an assistant coach for former head coach Jeff Miller from 2007 to 2009, and head coach of the boys’ team at Sioux City West (Iowa) in the spring of 2026. Before that, he served as an assistant coach at South Dakota State University from 2003 to 2005.
St. Peter’s girls are 20-1 this season and recently secured the Big South Conference title with a thrilling 4-3 win over defending champion St. James. The Saints, who are ranked second in the state team polls for Class AA, begin Section 2AA Team Tourney play on Tuesday, likely at home. More details on those brackets will be shared when they become available.

St. James, the defending Class A state team champs and currently ranked #1 in Class A, defeated Class AA #3 ranked-St. Peter 4-3 in the first match of the season, and the rematch promises to be another tightly-contested matchup!


Saints’ youth players wearing pink to the match will get in free and have the chance to get an autographed team photo after the match. (Please note -- other family members will still have to pay to get in.)The team is also partnering with the St. Peter Volleyball Association’s JO program to host a serving contest after the second set of the varsity match. SPVA reps will set up a table to sell chances for the serving contest.
In addition, the ST. PETER-KASOTA DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS chapter will host a 50/50 Raffle. Dollars for Scholars will also have a table set up selling raffle tickets for $1 each. A number will be drawn for 50% of the pot after the second match. The rest of the money goes to providing scholarships for Saint Peter High School seniors. Free will donations will be accepted by Dollars for Scholars at their table as well.

GIRLS TENNIS - The Saints’ varsity match against Fairmont, originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the SPHS courts, has been moved to 7 p.m. at the Bubble (Swanson Tennis Center) on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus.
BOYS SOCCER - The Saints hit the road to take on Tri-City United later today, but the JV and varsity games will now be played in Janesville (JWP High School’s turf field). The JV game starts at 5:45 p.m., with the varsity game to follow at around 7:15 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at https://www.gobound.com/mn/schools/stpeter/tickets.
The C-squad boys soccer game location and starting time will remain the same – 5 p.m. at TCU Middle School in Montgomery.

Dollars for Scholars (DFS) is hosting a Rummage Sale the weekend of October 16-17. All proceeds support local Saint Peter High School students selected to receive a St. Peter-Kasota DFS scholarship.

New North Dean of Students Mandy Kennedy also addressed students and staff about the upcoming year, and several students shared experiences of kindness they witnessed in school. Southworth and the Saints are 12-1 on the season with the win over the Titans. St. Peter was s ranked third in the Class AA state preseason polls earlier this school year, while Southworth was the seventh-ranked singles player for AA.
The Saints' record for all-time wins is 120, by 2025 SPHS alum (and Kylie's sister) Annika Southworth.

SEAC MEETING SET FOR OCTOBER 8TH - The Special Education Advisory Committee's (SEAC) annual meeting is set for 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, at MVED's Community Room (801 Davis Street, St. Peter). See the accompanying flyer for more details!

SAINTS FOOTBALL TO HOST YOUTH/AUTOGRAPH NIGHT - The Saints' varsity football team opens the home portion of its schedule at 7 p.m. Friday against Worthington at Floyd B. Johnson Field. The Saints have also designated this game as Youth/Autograph Night!
Saints' youth football players who wear their team jerseys to the game will be admitted for free (parents/family members will have to pay admission). The youngsters are encouraged to stick around after the game to receive a Saints' team poster and collect autographs from the varsity players!
