SPHS students working with GAC students

Saint Peter High School students in Peggy Dimock’s MSU Composition class recently met with Gustavus Adolphus College FTS (First Term Seminar) students to allow each class (for both SPHS and GAC) to have an authentic audience to look at their capstone writing assignment.

“In my class it was the multi-genre paper, and in the Gustavus class it was an Odyssey comparison movie presentation,” Dimock said. “Each SPHS student showed two of the genres they included in their Multi-Genre Research Project. They need one genre from each column and two more. I wanted the Gustavus students to tell our students if their writing looked like the genre, and sounded like the genre and demonstrated actual research.”

Per the Gustavus website, “The First-Term Seminar introduces entering students to the challenges of the academic conversation they will share with their peers, faculty, texts and traditions for the next four years. They will encounter enduring questions of values and--as they learn to respond with critical thinking, writing, and speaking--learn to recognize and evaluate their own values.”

Above and below are some photo highlights from Mrs. Dimock of the SPHS and Gustavus students interacting during this process!
