Four student representatives of the Saint Peter High School Choir Board, along with SPHS choir director Bri Berstrom, traveled to Mahtomedi on November 14 to do a presentation for the American Choral Directors Association's (ACDA) fall conference.
Those SPHS students accompanying Bergstrom were seniors Bekah Roemhildt, Gabe Zayas, Hamdi Garad, and Parker Brown, and the purpose of the visit was to discuss how to build a community in a large ensemble. Bergstrom and the students talked in detail about what the SPHS choir program does to help accomplish that goal, and they also taught the directors in attendance games that they can use in their own classrooms to do building community with their own students.
“I had the incredible opportunity to present a session for the first time at the ACDA (@acda_minnesota) Fall Conference and felt I needed student representation with me in order to fully explain our program to everyone,” Bergstrom said. “It brought me so much joy and I’m feeling so grateful for the kids for joining me and for everyone who supports our choir program.
“Our student presenters did such an amazing job with the presentation, and the feedback I received from the other ACDA members was so positive. I’m so proud of our students for such a job well done!”
Shown above and below are some photos from Bergstrom of her students and herself working with the ADA members!
