North Bike/Walk to School Day

North Elementary School will join schools from around the country to celebrate Bike & Walk to School Day on Wednesday, May 3. On this day, North students are encouraged to ride their bikes or walk to school that morning.

Bike & Walk to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for bicycling and walking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools and the broader community.

This year’s North Elementary Bike & Walk to School event is being organized by Saint Peter School Resource Officer Jon Hughes and North Elementary administrative staff. For additional local information, please contact SRO Hughes at 507-934-4210 ext. 5101 (office) or email him at jhughes3@stpeterschools.org.

"This is such a fantastic opportunity to support our youth as they find alternative ways to travel to school” SRO Hughes said.  "It is always a great event when local first responders get to spend time with the youth of our community in a positive way."
