For the third straight school year, students at South Elementary participated in a recess intervention program entitled the Spreading Smiles program, according to Cindy Bruce, South Elementary’s behavior interventionist.
(SHOWN ABOVE) Here’s the most recent photo of the popular wall at South Elementary (gr. K-1) where the smiley faces with the names of the South students who were recently recognized through the Spreading Smiles program.
At recess, any student may reach out to Mrs. Bruce to let her know that someone was kind to them, and that student made them smile. They then fill out a quick form about what made them smile. Then, their name is added to the “Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today” wall, located in the hallway between the main building and the gymnasium. Even though the forms aren’t being filled out in May, smiles can still be added!
