SPHS choir with special guests from Spain

Saint Peter High School’s choir department had special visitors on Monday afternoon. A large group of SPHS choir students will travel to southern Spain in March 2027 with Grand Tours, and that tour group brought Spanish conductor David Colado Coronas and their tour guide, Nacho, to visit with SPHS choir students and hear them sing.

“David is a great musician, conductor, and ambassador for choir, band, and orchestra in Spain. He'll be working with several ensembles during his time in Minnesota,” SPHS choir director Bri Bergstrom said. “He has worked with several of our touring groups in Oviedo, Spain. He worked with members of the Fleur de Lis Singers for a bit on Monday and had the best time!”

Coronas graduated from the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Principality of Asturias, specializing in trombone and tuba. He also completed a Postgraduate Education in Musical Performance Analysis, specializing in orchestral conducting, at the University of Oviedo. Currently, he is the principal conductor of the Oviedo Municipal Band and the Asturias Youth Symphonic Band.
